dA has kind of been going downhill for a while, but this might be the final straw. The admins have replied. Here's the problem: • dA no longer allows you to pick "unspecified" or anything other than Male or Female for your gender. • Trans/intersex people complain, rightly, that deviantART needs to stop putting people in boxes. • Complaints are largely ignored by the staff but spread through the community. • Admins respond: 'We'll change the dropdown box's title to "sex" instead of "gender".' My awesome graduation present has arrived, and it is a Cintiq! If you're not in the know, imagine a wacom tablet crossed with a computer screen - you draw directly onto it. It is as awesome as it sounds! I've always worked better directly on paper than via a tablet, so this has not only removed an obstacle for my digital art, it's sped it up. There's a saying that you have to do 1000 crap drawings before you get to the good stuff; at this rate I'll burn through them in a few months, haha. My coursework is all in and went ok, not for lack of setbacks and bureaucratic idiocy. I got an 84 for the illustrator work, and a 2:1 in my degree overall, which I'm very pleased with!
